I am a filmmaker whose storytelling begins in the mysteries of character. A prose-poet who likes to feature dialogue in her poems and creative non-fiction.

There's a back and forth in my work across forms.

Most recently I have written a novel, and published a memoir, In the Time of the Manaroans (VUP, 2021) shortlisted for a NSW Premier’s Literary Award.

I have won international and Australian awards for my films and completed a Creative Doctorate of Arts in Screen Studies and Screenwriting (Western Sydney University 2016). I teach creative practice research, screenwriting and media production between the Australian Film Television and Radio School and Macquarie University, Sydney.

With three decades experience in cinema and writing across media, I develop, write, script edit or consult on creative concepts, treatments and screenplays, film press books and synopses. In my capacity as script reader and assessor I have consulted on well over a thousand scripts for Screen Australia, Screen NSW, Screen Tasmania, SBS Independent and numerous independent filmmakers.

My approach is detailed, imaginative and sensitive to the distinctive voice of each project and creative. Send me an email and introduce yourself. I accept commissions as script consultant/editor, filmmaker, essayist and poet.
